SAINTS WIN ONE OF THREE AT POLK STATE TOURNAMENT

Winter Haven, FL – The Santa Fe Saints lost two of three on Saturday at the Polk College Spring Tournament, dropping their first game of the day to FCSAA #1 Tallahassee CC 6-0.  Polk State then handed SF their second loss of the day 8-2 before the Saints took their frustration out on Oakland CC 12-3 in a five inning mercy rule game.

TCC pitcher Kristyn Barry held the Saints to two hits and struck out 11 in SF’s first game of the day.  The contest was the fifth between the two teams in Santa Fe’s last seven games.  Stephanie Cameron was charged with the loss.

Still reeling from the 6-0 loss, the Saints struggled against Polk State, falling to the Eagles 8-2.  Amber Richardson took the loss.

SF regrouped for their final game of the day and pounded Oakland CC (MI) 12-3 in five innings.  Erika Garcia started in the circle and earned the win.

Karla Claudio Rivera led the Saints offense on the day, going 6-for-9 with a double.  Ashley Holton finished 4-for-8 with a double and a homerun, Kimberly Booker was 3-for-10 with a double, Erika Garcia was 3-for-7 with a homerun and Vanessa Ortiz finished 4-for-9 with a homerun.
