Saints Walk Off Against St. John’s on Kennedy Blast

JOHN’S ON KENNEDY BLAST IN THE 11th   Gainesville, FL – Shane Kennedy lifted the Santa Fe Saints (24-8, 6-2 MFC) to their fourth victory in a row on on Saturday when he crushed a one out walk off homerun over the left field fence in the 11th inning to give SF a 7-6 victory. Kennedy homered twice in the game and finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored. “Shane is really seeing the ball well and is getting hot at the right time,” said SF coach Johnny Wiggs. The Vikings opened the scoring in the second with a run on a two out single.  Santa Fe answered right back in the second with two runs on three hits.  Trey Griffin brought in the first on a double and Lawrence Pardo drove in the second on a two out single. SF tacked in two more in the third on a Drew Doty double and a fielder’s choice groundouts by Griffin. St. John’s bounced back with two in the fifth to cut the Santa Fe lead to 4-3.  Shane Kennedy got one run back for Santa Fe in the bottom of the fifth when he blasted a home run over the scoreboard in left field for the 5-3 Saints advantage. The Vikings refused to quit and tied the game in the sixth with two runs to make it 5-5.  Th Saints grabbed the lead once again in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Caleb Denmark. In the ninth, SJRSC loaded the bases with no outs, and managed one run to send the game to extra innings. Neither team scored until Kennedy ended the game in the 11th. Trey Griffin finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and Lawrence Pardo was also 2-for-4. The Saints travel to Florida State College – Jacksonville on Monday, March 19 for a 3:00  PM game against the Stars.
