SAINTS ELEVEN GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED BY LAKE SUMTER, 7-3

Box Score

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints came out flat on Wednesday afternoon against Lake Sumter CC falling behind 6-0 early on and never mounted rally, dropping a 7-3 decision to the Lakers.

JT Simpson started on the hill and struggled through three innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.  The Santa Fe (31-9, 13-3 MFC) defense didn’t do him any favors, committing three errors that led to four unearned runs.

LSCC scored one in the first, three in the second, one in the third and another in the fourth.  The Saints finally got on the board in the sixth when AJ Mazzurco doubled off the fence in right center, plating two runs.  The Lakers answered with a run in the seventh and SF scored one in the bottom half on a Trey Griffin sacrifice fly.

LSCC reliever Beau Beadreau shut the door in the eighth and ninth to preserve the Laker win.

The Saints travel to the College of Central Florida on Friday for a game against the Patriots at 3:00 PM.  SF currently holds a two game lead over CCF in the Mid-Florida Conference standings.
