Media Relations Coordinator Julie Garrett recently accepted the position of Community Program Manager at the FairShare CSA Coalition in Madison, Wisc. Her last day on campus was Wednesday, April 25.
“It has been such an honor to tell the stories of Santa Fe College for nearly seven years. I will really miss my Santa Fe family,” said Garrett. “But I am also very excited about the work FairShare is doing and I am looking forward to promoting their efforts.”
Communication Specialist Amanda Hernandez will take on Garrett’s duties as the interim Media Relations Coordinator. Hernandez began working part time for Santa Fe in March 2011, and has steadily increased working hours to meet the department’s needs, most recently plunging into the role of editor of Today@Santa Fe in February.
“Julie was a great asset to Santa Fe and will be missed,” Hernandez said. “I have big shoes to fill, but I am definitely up to the challenge.”
Hernandez will continue to edit Today@Santa Fe and the Daily. She will also be responsible for writing and distributing press releases, administering the Santa Fe College Facebook page, directing media calls and producing the SF Monthly newsletter.
