Elizabeth “Lizzie” Deimeke and Beatriz Gonzalez were chosen to attend the Bean Beetle Curriculum Development Workshop scheduled for July 25-27, at Emory University in Atlanta. This is an NSF-funded initiative where they will learn how to use bean beetles as the animal model for studies on various biology sub-disciplines. The goal of the workshop is to write labs and exercises to guide students to develop and test hypotheses. Lizzie and Beatriz hope to see their students’ work in future RUE festivals.
