This year’s World Oceans Day theme was “Youth: The Next Wave For Change,” and the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo has taken it to heart with enthusiasm — and some Dr. Seuss.

Adults and children endured the humid, post-drizzle weather to learn about the importance of ocean conservation and to enjoy the many exhibits at the zoo.

Children danced with wild-eyed excitement as they looked at exotic animals in enclosures and played with other children in the zoo’s playground. Along the enclosure trail small signs were posted with factoids about the oceans.

In addition, children enjoyed an arts and crafts table and watched Dr. Seuss’ “Ocean Commotion” while they played educational games and acquired Dr. Seuss temporary tattoos.
