Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe baseball team opened up the weekend with a strong showing against All-American prospects, winning both games of a double header 11-3 and 9-0.

The Saints offense pounded out 23 hits including three doubles, two triples and a homerun. Eleven different pitchers combined to give up just four hits and strike out 15 over 14 innings.

Local Buchholz High School product Graham Cason was 4-for-5 on the day with three RBI, Caleb Denmark was 3-for-4 and Colby Lusignan, Jamaal Martin, Jarred Mederos and Casey Scroggins had two hits apiece. Santa Fe High School graduate Bryan Evans hit the lone SF homerun.

The Saints next games are on September 29 against Orlando Baseball Academy at 12 noon and on September 30 against Top Prospects at 12 noon.

Fastpitch: On Sunday, Coach Chris Ahern and the Santa Fe fastpitch team picked up where baseball left off, putting together two convincing wins over the Osceola Overdrive. Sophomore Karla Claudio paced the offense in game one and in game two sophomore Aileen Fiallo hit her first collegiate homerun and freshman catcher Geena Capitini blasted a deep homerun to put an exclamation point on the sweep.

SF will be back in action on Saturday for a double double starting at 9:30 AM against the Jacksonville Bandits and again at 2:00 PM against the Southern Storm.
