“Stars” & “Tales of the Maya Skies” Sneak Peek This Week

October is a great month for new planetarium shows at the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, and SF College students, faculty and staff get to have a sneak peek this week!

Sneak Peek showtimes will be as follows:
Monday, 10/8, 12:30 p.m. – Stars
Tuesday, 10/9, 12:30 p.m. – Tales of the Maya Skies
Thursday, 10/11, 12:30 p.m. – Stars
Friday, 10/12, 12:30 p.m. – Tales of the Maya Skies

Stars, narrated by Mark Hamill, takes you on a journey to the furthest reaches of our galaxy to experience both the awesome beauty and destructive power of stars. You’ll learn about stellar evolution, space exploration, the electromagnetic spectrum, and the history of astronomy. (A production of the Sudekum Planetarium at the Adventure Science Center.) [Running time: 25 minutes] – Regular Showtime, Saturdays at 5:00 PM

Tales of the Maya Skies, narrated by Latin Grammy award winner, Lila Downs, is a digital fulldome show that immerses the audience in Mayan astronomy, art and culture through a custom score and visuals. Produced by Chabot Space & Science Center, Tales of the Maya Skies inspires and educates through its description of the Maya’s accurate astronomical achievements and how astronomy connected them to the Universe. [Running time: 35 minutes] – Regular Showtime, Saturdays at 7:00 PM
