SF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – 11/24/2012
Niceville, FL – For the second day in a row the Santa Fe Saints battled one of the top ranked teams in the country and hung around for a half before falling in the second period. The game was the sixth this season for SF against a top five team in the FCSAA poll.
SF (6-5) trailed Chipola College 38-30 after a defensive first half but couldn’t repeat the effort, getting outscored 43-27 over the final 20 minutes.
“We played hard in spurts,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. “This is a tough stretch of our schedule but we know that playing the best is going to help us get better every game.”
Paulina Zaveckaite recorded a double double for the second straight day, accumulating 13 points and 13 rebounds. Tiara Thompson finished with 15 points and Monique Bunk had 10.
The Saints will take a few days off before returning to action on Friday, November 30 when they host Indian River State College in the Florida Colleges Shootout at 6:00 PM.
