Police continue to investigate an attempted robbery which occurred Wednesday, November 28, in the parking lot on the south side of the Northwest Campus. The victim reported the attempted robbery to SFPD and officers were immediately dispatched to the scene of the incident and the SF College emergency notification system was activated to send an alert to faculty, staff and students via SMS, Email, Voice. The message, along with the description of the suspect was also deployed across www.sfcollege.edu.
The Santa Fe College Police Department, with the assistance of Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, are currently searching the surrounding area for a black male in his late teen or early 20s, approximately 6′ tall, wearing blue baggy long jeans, dark blue hooded sweatshirt pulled up around his face, and sunglasses. Anyone who may have seen a similarly described person should contact the Santa Fe College Police Department at 352-395-5519.
SFPD considers this too be an isolated incident which poses no further immediate threat to the Northwest Campus community, but would remind faculty, staff, students, and visitors that police escorts are available 24/7.
