FSC-J Tightens Grip on MFC Lead with 91-80 Win Over Santa Fe

Gainesville, FL – The Mid-Florida Conference leading Florida State College-Jacksonville Blue Wave put a strangle hold on first place Saturday afternoon with their win over the Santa Fe Saints 91-80 in Jacksonville.

The Saints (16-11, 4-5 MFC) led 17-7 in the early going but FSC-J came storming back to take a 45-38 lead at the halftime break.

The Blue Wave (20-7, 8-1 MFC) proved in the second half why they remain at the top of the pack in the MFC as they withstood numerous runs by the Saints including one late in the half to hold on for the 11 point win, their third over SF this season.

Paulina Zaveckaite finished with a double double, scoring 12 points to go with 12 rebounds, Tiara Thompson had 21 points, Tay Couch scored 12 and Monique Bunk had 10.

The Saints next game is at home on Wednesday, February 13 against Daytona State College at 7:00 PM.
