Dr. Baliram Gaikwad, the Fulbright DoctoralFellow at the University of Florida and chair of the English department at N. G. Acharya & D. K. Marathe College in Mumbai, will be giving a lecture that explores the voices of the oppressed through literature. He will analyze the personal, literary and historical linkages between African Americans and the Dalit, or “untouchable” caste, in India.
