Fastpitch Fights Back for Double Header Split with SPC

Genna Capitini tripled in three runs to lift the Saints in game two

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (9-7) dropped game one of a double header to St. Petersburg College Thursday afternoon in Clearwater 6-0 but rallied in game two for a 7-2 victory.

Six errors cost SF in game one, leading to six unearned runs. Pitcher Ashley Chapman was the hard luck loser after surrendering just four hits and four unearned runs.

A fire was lit underneath the Saints in game two as they came out of the gates with four runs in the first inning on five hits and one Titan error.  Geena Capitini led the charge with a bases clearing three RBI triple and Galis Lozada executed a successful bunt to score Capitini for the fourth run.

In the second Santa Fe plated one run on a Karla Claudio RBI single and two more insurance runs came in the fourth on a two RBI double by Sid Masso.  Karla Claudio picked up the win in the circle.

Santa Fe had 14 hits in game two.  Claudio finished the day 4-for-7 with a RBI, Erin March was 5-for-8 and Geena Capitini was 2-for-6 with a triple and three RBI.

The Saints next double header is at home on Sunday, March 3 at 2:00 PM against Palm Beach State College.
