SF FASTPITCH

Gainesville, FL – The FCSAA #5 Santa Fe Saints and Florida State College-Jacksonville Blue Wave split a double header on Tuesday afternoon with SF (27-12, 12-2 MFC) taking game one 5-1 and FSC-J (29-19, 9-5 MFC) rebounding in game two for a 3-2 victory.  With the split SF maintained their three game first place lead over FSC-J in the Mid-Florida Conference race.

The Saints turned a scoreless game one into a route late in the contest, scoring two in the fifth and three in the sixth.  The Blue Wave scored one run on a homerun in the seventh but could get no closer.

Karla Claudio started in the circle and struck out 11 while allowing just three hits.  She improves her record to 13-5 on the season and has 167 strikeouts in 119.2 innings pitched.

Sid Masso led the offense in game one, going 3-for-4 with a run scored, Erin Marsh was 2-for-4 with a RBI and Karla Claudio was 2-for-4.

Needing a win in game two to keep pace in MFC play, FSC-J jumped ahead 3-0 with one in the fourth and two in the fifth.  The Saints made a run in the seventh, scoring two to cut the deficit to 3-2 but the rally was cut short.  The loss ended a 10 game Santa Fe win streak.

Rachel Hoeft finished game two 2-for-3 with both Santa Fe RBI.

The Saints travel to Sanford on Thursday for a double header against Seminole State College at 2:30 PM.
