Sanford, FL – Caleb Denmark drove in two runs on Monday afternoon against Seminole State College and closed out the game in the ninth for his second save to lead Santa Fe past the Raiders 7-5.
Bryan Evans put the Saints (25-15, 10-9 MFC) on the board first with a two RBI double in the second inning. Seminole tied things up in the fourth with two runs, but SF answered with three runs in the fifth on a two RBI single by Denmark and a RBI hit by pitch from Josh Stewart.
The Raiders plated a single run in the seventh to cut the margin to 5-3 but SF once again bounced back, scoring two in the top of the eighth on a wild pitch and a RBI ground out by Evans, giving him three RBI on the day. Seminole fought back for two in the eighth but Denmark shut the door in the ninth to secure the win.
Dylan Barrow started on the hill for SF and lasted 3.2 innings before giving way to Derek Vail. Vail tossed 4.1 innings, allowing two runs to earn the win.
Denmark was 1-for-4 on the afternoon with two RBI, Bryan Evans finished 1-for-4 with three RBI, and Jonathan Camp was 2-for-4 with a run. The Saints had 10 hits in all.
Santa Fe travels to Leesburg on Wednesday for a MFC match-up against Lake Sumter State College at 3:00 PM.
