SF BASEBALL
Gainesville, FL – Despite not qualifying for the FCSAA State Tournament for the first time since 2008, the Santa Fe Saints finished the 2013 season on a high note, defeating rivals College of Central Florida 7-2 in Gainesville.
Sophomore Josh Larson started on the hill and gave the Saints six solid innings before handing the ball over the fellow sophomores JT Simpson, Clayton Wagner and Caleb Denmark. The three relievers combined to shutout the Patriots over the final three innings.
SF struck first, scoring three runs in the first on two hits and a CF error. The Saints tacked on one more in the second and three in the fourth on a Caleb Denmark single and another costly error by the Patriots.
The top of the Santa Fe order combined for six hits with Casey Scoggins and Jarred Mederos each finishing 3-for-5. Denmark finished 1-for-2 with three RBI and Josh Stewart with 2-for-3.
