Santa Fe College Police Department Honored with International Award

The Santa Fe College Police Department was celebrated for their accomplishments and recent awards Monday in the President’s Lobby of the Robertson Administration Building.

The Santa Fe College Police Department received the inaugural “Innovations in Community Oriented Policing” award July 1, at the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) annual conference in Louisville, Ky. IACLEA is the largest campus law enforcement organization worldwide.

The award honors outstanding service and initiative in support of a community-oriented policing philosophy. SF was selected as the winner based on the overall impact of its “Safe Santa Fe” crime prevention initiative.

Members of Santa Fe College Police Department also attended the Florida Police Chiefs Association Awards Banquet June 19, in Bonita Springs, Fla. to receive the Rocky Pomerance Excellence in Policing Award. The award is named in honor of the former chief of police of Miami Beach, and recognizes member agencies for developing and implementing an innovative approach to policing.

“Receiving these awards is a testament to law enforcement excellence displayed by sworn and civilian personnel who comprise the Santa Fe College Police Department,” said Santa Fe College Police Chief Ed Book.
