SF MEN’S BASKETBALL
Tallahassee, FL – Despite missing a majority of their front line, the FCSAA #9 Santa Fe Saints (3-0) were victorious on Friday evening against Faulkner State College (AL), 75-63. Sophomore Salim Gloyd led the charge, scoring a season high 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.
“Nice job by the guys tonight jumping out and holding on for the win,” said SF Coach Chris Mowry. “Salim really shot the ball well for us and we did a nice job on the boards despite missing a lot of our size for a majority of the game.”
The Saints led by 15 at half time and by as many as 20 in the second half. Faulkner shot their way back in the game with some timely threes but SF clamped down, kept the double digit lead and held on for the 12 point victory.
Jonathan Hood, a transfer from Tallahassee CC playing in his old stomping grounds, scored 19 points to go with six rebounds and five assists. Morris Marshall scored 12 points off the bench and point guard Shea Jones added seven points and three assists.
The Saints outrebounded Faulkner 42-34 and were 11-for-11 from the free throw line and 10-for-24 from three point range
SF plays again tomorrow in Tallahassee against Marion Military Academy at 2:00 PM.
