For the second time this season the Tallahassee CC Eagles (5-2) had SF’s number as they defeated the Saints (3-6) in Gainesville on Friday night 63-50. TCC wing Marija Pacar led the charge, scoring 23 points, including 6-of-9 from the three point line.
“We worked all week in practice on stopping that high screen play they run to get Pacar and others open but just didn’t execute during the game,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins. “We have to work on translating what we practice from our scouting into the actual game.”
Jaquasha Sesler scored the first points of the game for Santa Fe, but just a few minutes later TCC took the lead and never relinquished it. SF got as close as nine in the second half but Pacar answered and helped stretch the lead back out to as many as 17.
Santa Fe struggled from behind the arc, connecting on just 2-of-15 opportunities.
Sesler was a bright spot with 13 points for SF, as was Desi’Rai Shaw who scored 10.
The Saints will travel to Niceville on Friday, Nov. 29 for a game against FCSAA #1 Chipola College at 1:30 p.m.
