SAINTS WIN HIGH SCORING AFFAIR AGAINST ONONDAGA CC, 97-95

Clearwater, FL – The Santa Fe Saints picked up their fifth win of the season on Monday evening against Onondaga CC (NY), winning 97-95 in a foul filled contest at the St. Petersburg College Holiday Classic.  The two teams combined to shoot 89 free throws in a game that took just over two and a half hours to complete.

The Saints (5-9) jumped out to an early lead and led 54-37 at the halftime break.  The Lazers refused to give in and chipped away, closing the gap down the stretch.  SF bent but didn’t break as they held on for the two point win for their second victory in their last three games.

“It was nice to see our offense get a good game under their belt,” said SF Coach Chanda Stebbins.  “We have to play better defense and finish out games all the way to the end.”

Stephanie Ball led all SF scorers with 26 points to go with five steals and three assists, Tori Baggett had 18 points, Jaquasha Sesler had 13, Areana Davis 11, and Jocelyn Mousty had nine points and seven rebounds.

Santa Fe will look to build on their victory when they battle St. Petersburg College on December 31 at 2:00 PM.
