Gainesville, FL – Saint Francis Catholic High School (Gainesville, FL) senior Ann Lorrayne Bzoch became the first ever Santa Fe College Volleyball signee when she inked her scholarship paperwork Thursday night in the Santa Fe Gym in front of more than 100 friends and family.
Bzoch had her father Kevin, mother Annie, and older sister Callie by her side as she made it official and signed the dotted line with Santa Fe Coach Nick Cheronis looking on. Cheronis was Bzoch’s high school coach for the last three seasons at Saint Francis.
“This is a great moment for the Santa Fe volleyball program because of who Ann Lorrayne is as a student athlete and as a person,” said Cheronis. “This is a great fit in so many ways.”
Bzoch played the libero position for Saint Francis and is expected to hold down the same spot for the Saints. She said she is excited to join the Santa Fe program and continue playing under Coach Cheronis.
“It’s truly an honor and I am so blessed to have this opportunity,” said Bzoch. “Coach Nick is a great coach, a great person and I feel like I learned something new from him every day at practice. It’s an honor to join his program and I look forward to the future and the other signees to come.”
Bzoch was a highly decorated prep player, earning Gainesville Sun First Team All-Area honors as a senior, and was Co-Outstanding Player of the Year for Saint Francis. Her junior year she was Second Team All-Area and set a school record with 477 digs.
She helped lead Saint Francis to back to back FHSAA Final Four appearances her junior and senior seasons, including a State Championship match appearance in 2012. She is as successful off the court as she is on the court, earning academic honor roll honors every semester and is a member of the National Honor Society and National Society of High School Scholars.
Bzoch will join Santa Fe in the summer following high school graduation. The Saints first regular season game will take place on August 26 at 7:00 PM in the SF Gym.
