Daytona, FL – The Santa Fe Saints continued their momentum from their overtime win against the College of Central Florida last Saturday, defeating Daytona State (10-12, 2-4 MFC) on the road Wednesday evening 71-55.  The win moves SF to 9-13 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-Florida Conference, good enough for second place behind Florida State College-Jacksonville.

The Saints led 34-30 at halftime and outscored Daytona 37-25 in the second period, displaying a stout defense to pull away for the 16 point victory.

Tori Baggett played a key role in the win Wednesday night, knocking down all 10 of her free throw attempts, many coming down the stretch to keep the Falcons at bay. She finished with 13 points.  Stephanie Ball was also clutch from the line, connecting on 8-of-10 attempts to finish with a team best 15 points.  As a whole, Santa Fe was 31-for-39 from the charity stripe and outscored DSC 22-8 off turnovers.

Jaquasha Sesler joined Ball and Baggett in double figures with 13.

The Saints will return home looking for their third MFC win in a row when Hillsborough CC makes the trip to Gainesville for a 2:00 PM game.  Fans that can’t make it to the SF Gym can watch live on www.ihigh.com/santafesaints
