Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints fought hard on Thursday afternoon against a tough St. Petersburg College squad but came out on the losing end of a pair of games to the Titans.

St. Pete took a 6-1 lead in game one but the Saints didn’t quit, scoring two in the seventh before their rally was cut short.  Ashley Rey started in the circle and took the loss.

SF (4-8) pounded out 11 hits, including three from Rachel Hoeft, and two from Sid Masso.

The second game was a low scoring game with each team scoring one run out of the gates.  It was 1-1 until the top of the sixth when SPC broke the tie with a RBI single. The Saints were unable to answer in the top of the sixth and the game was called due to darkness in the top of the seventh.

Amber Maxey was the tough luck loser, taking the loss despite alloing just two runs in 6.2 innings pitched.

SF will travel to Avon Park on Saturday to battle South Florida State College starting at 1:00 PM.
