Fastpitch Sweeps Double Header from GMC, 5-0 and 5-2

Sid Masso had four hits on the day

The Santa Fe Saints continued their hot streak on Sunday afternoon, defeating Georgia Military College 5-0 and 5-2.  SF is now on a five game win streak and moves to 14-14 on the season.

Maddy Peres pitched a scheduled three innings in game one to earn the win, striking out four while allowing no runs.  Ashley Rey pitched the final four innings, scattering three hits with three k’s.

Santa Fe scored three in the first inning, the big hit coming from Yanira Sanchez, and two more in the second.  It was all the SF pitchers would need as they shut out the Bulldogs the rest of the way.

Sid Masso finished 2-for-4  with two runs scored, Sanchez was 1-for-1 with a double and two RBI, and Peres was 1-for-2.

In game two Ashley Chapman started and earned the win with a scheduled three innings of work.  Kalsey Jefferson pitched two thirds of an inning in relief and Amber Maxey picked up the save, holding the Bulldogs to no runs on three hits.

A four run third paced Santa Fe past GMC.  Chapman doubled home two runs in the frame and Capitini and Hoeft each drove in one.

Erin March, Sid Masso, and Rachel Hoeft had two hits apiece for Santa Fe.

Santa Fe will host Seminole State College on Tuesday, Mar. 18 in a double header scheduled for 2:30 p.m.  The games can both be heard live on www.theprepzone.com and www.floridacast.com
