Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints split a double header against Mid-Florida Conference foes Lake Sumter State College on Saturday afternoon, taking game one 2-1 and dropping game two 5-1. With the split, the Saints now sit by themselves in first place in the MFC with a 6-2 record.
Amber Maxey picked up the win in the circle in the first half of the double header, pitching four innings in relief of starter Maddy Peres.
The Saints (17-15, 6-2 MFC) broke a 1-1 late in the game when Rachel Hoeft squeezed home Sid Masso for the winning tally.
Game two was all Lake Sumter as the Lakehawks as they jumped out to a 4-1 lead through three innings and never looked back, winning 5-1.
Geena Capitini provided the Saints lone run with a solo homerun in the second inning.
The Saints host Seminole State College on Tuesday at 2:30 PM in a Mid-Florida Conference double header.
