Gainesville, FL – Some timely hitting and clutch pitching from the bullpen proved to be what Santa Fe needed on Wednesday afternoon as they came from behind for the second game in a row to claim a 5-4 victory over Lake Sumter State College.  The win moves SF to 22-17 overall and 10-10 in the Mid-Florida Conference, keeping them in contention for the final FCSAA State Tournament spot.

Lake Sumter (19-21, 4-16 MFC) scored one in the first off Santa Fe starter Connor Rooney and three more in the third for an early 4-0 lead.

Jake Reimer entered the game with two outs in the third and held the Lakehawks scoreless to keep it at a 4-0 game.  He would throw four innings total to earn the win, shutting LSSC down before handing the ball over to Kevin Martin in the seventh.  Martin tossed 2.1 innings of perfect baseball to earn the first save of his career.

Trailing by four heading into the fifth, Santa Fe mounted a comeback for the second time in three days.  Brady Roberson, AJ Mazzurco, and Payson Smith started the frame with back to back to back singles to load the bases with no outs.  Andrew Fears followed and took one for the team, getting hit with a pitch to get the Saints on the board.

George Ragsdale stepped in and singled home another run to cut the lead in half and Casey Scoggins brought SF within a run at 4-3 with a RBI groundout.

Jonathan Camp played the hero one batter later, driving in two with a single to give SF a 5-4 lead, one they would not let go of.  Reimer and Martin took care of the rest and the Saints pulled themselves back to .500 in MFC play.

Colby Lusignan and AJ Mazzurco each finished 2-for-3 and Camp was 1-for-4 with two RBI, giving him a team leading 36.

The Saints will travel to Daytona State on Friday, April 18 for a crucial MFC game against the Falcons at 3:00 PM.  Santa Fe is now a half game ahead of Daytona in the conference standings and one game behind Seminole for third place.
