Geena Capitini drove in both game winning runs

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints tightened their grasp on first place in the Mid-Florida Conference Thursday afternoon, defeating Daytona State College 2-1 in game one and 3-2 in game two.  The two wins helped SF (30-19, 17-5 MFC) remain in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference by one game over the College of Central Florida with two games to go.

Geena Capitini was the hero in both games, knocking in Beri Scott in game one for the 2-1 nine inning win, and in game two she belted a pinch hit homerun in the sixth inning to help the Saints prevail 3-2.

Maddy Peres went the distance in game one to earn the win and Amber Maxey started game two, pitching the first five innings.  Peres entered in the sixth and tossed the final two innings to earn her second win of the day.

Peres finished the day 3-for-5 offensively, Bradshaw was 2-for-6 with a double and a RBI, Capitini was 3-for-5 with a homerun and two RBI, and Rachel Hoeft was 2-for-7.

The Saints will travel to Lake Sumter State College on Friday, April 18 for a double header at 2:30 PM.
