The Action Research Faculty Group is committed to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and participants engage in an ongoing process of reflection and inquiry to help teachers make decisions about educational practices. Participating faculty design projects to address a persistent problem or area of concern in their own classes by taking action based on research to advance student engagement and/or learning.
This group is open to all SF professors who are interested in developing, documenting, and sharing their efforts to improve student learning and success in 2014-2015, and the group may be of particular interest to faculty seeking continuing contract because the work will support annual self-evaluations. Faculty who complete action research projects and document their findings for the Action Research database (in Canvas) will receive a certificate of completion to recognize their professional development.
