Saints set for FCSAA State Tournament debut today

The Santa Fe Saints qualified for the FCSAA State Tournament in their first year of play, and make their debut as the Mid-Florida Conference #1 seed on Thursday, Nov. 6 against Daytona State College at 10 a.m.  Every match of the tournament takes place at Florida State College-Jacksonville South Campus.  Fans can watch live on www.ihigh.com/santafesaints and www.ihigh.com/floridastjax

Santa Fe finished their inaugural regular season with a 30-5 overall record, and an 8-2 mark in MFC play, good enough for a co-conference championship.

“We are thrilled to be going to the state tournament,” said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.  “Making the playoffs is a direct result of everyone in your program buying into the vision. This year we have been a true team with 10 of our 13 players appearing in at least 50 percent of our sets played. We will need everyone’s contribution again if we hope to advance in the tournament.”

The Saints and Daytona split the season series 1-1 with SF winning the most recent meeting in Gainesville 3-2 in a five set back and forth battle.

To qualify for the National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming, Santa Fe would need to win their first two games of the tournament.  Should they drop one of their first two, they could still qualify through the loser’s bracket for the third NJCAA Tournament spot.  View a full bracket here: http://thefcsaasports.com/sports/wvball/2014-15/FCSAA_Volleyball_Tournament.pdf
