Applications are due today.
During the week of Thanksgiving, University of Florida’s Harn Museum is offering two, one-day camps for kids ages 7-13 (2nd – 8th grade). Santa Fe College has available a small number of scholarships for children of Career Service staff to attend these camps free of charge. If you have a child who would like to participate, please have him or her fill out the application available in HR (Building D) or via email (contact Dana Linnens, dana.linnens@sfcollege.edu).
In order for an application to receive full consideration, it must be received by Dana Linnens in HR by 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17. Applications will be reviewed “blind” by a panel of two or three Santa Fe scholarship sponsors, meaning that children’s/parents’ identities will not be known by those who select SF’s “campers.” Reviewers’ decisions will be final.
Career Service staff whose children apply for scholarships will receive word by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, about whether their children are selected as scholarship recipients. By 4:30 p.m. Thursday, November 20, parents of Santa Fe’s scholarship campers must visit HR to fill out a brief information sheet containing contact information for the use of Harn art camp staff.
We hope your children enjoy the application process. Please give them our very best wishes for a wonderful and creative holiday season!
Camp Information
Drawing Art Camp Monday, November 24, 2014
Children will explore and strengthen their drawing skills through a variety of exercises. Instruction and practice in mark-making, color, shading, and portraiture will culminate in a self-portrait project.
Printmaking Art Camp Tuesday, November 25, 2014
Children will dive into a number of printmaking techniques, including collotypes, relief prints, stenciling, and engraving. The final project will combine all their new skills in an Andy Warhol inspired art work.
These two, one-day camps provide a great opportunity for kids to get creative. Each camp offers gallery explorations, art instruction, and fun art-making projects. Different instruction and activities are planned for each day, so children can attend one or both days.
Camp Schedule: Drop-off, 8:00-8:30 a.m.; Pick-up 4:30-5 p.m.
For ages 7-13 (2nd – 8th grade) with smaller work groups by age/grade level.
