Sanford, FL – Maddy Peres was dominant on Saturday in game one of a double header against NJCAA #3 Seminole State College, tossing a two hit shutout to lead the Santa Fe Saints (16-14, 4-5 MFC) to a 1-0 victory over the Raiders in Sanford. Seminole bounced back in the second half of the double dip, breaking a 1-1 tie late in the game to pick up a 6-2 win.
Chelsea Malcolm provided the lone run, doubling home Beri Scott in the fifth inning to give Peres all then run support she would need.
SSC finally got on the board in the first inning of game two, scoring a run on a squeeze play for the 1-0 advantage. In the fourth the Saints answered with a run of their own when Beri Scott tagged up on a foul ball caught in foul territory.
From there it was all Raiders as they capitalized on their opportunities and pulled away for a 6-2 win.
Jessica Castiglione started in the circle for SF and took the loss.
The Saints will remain on the road when they travel to Tallahassee on Tuesday, March 24 for a double header with the Eagles of TCC starting at 4:00 PM.
