Saints hand FSC-J third straight run rule defeat, 11-1

Box Score

For the third straight game the Santa Fe Saints took down Florida State College-Jacksonville in run rule fashion, and like the first two games of the series, the contest was ended in the seventh inning.  Matt Allen and Cliff Bryant, the four and five hitters in the lineup, finished a combined 7-for-7 with seven RBI and six runs scored.  Bryant blasted his first home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth to give the Saints an 11-1 lead.

NJCAA #9 Santa Fe (25-7, 12-3 MFC) broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second with a run and added three more in the third on back to back two out hits by Matt Allen and Cliff Bryant for a 4-1 lead.  SF added another in the fourth and three more in the fifth on RBI hits by Allen and Robbie Hanlon, and a sacrifice fly by Jonah Girand for the 8-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, Bryant took the first pitch he saw and drove it deep over the right field fence into the street to put SF ahead 11-1.  That was all they would need as they put the game away in the bottom of the seventh.

Austin Goss started on the hill for Santa Fe and tossed five innings, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts.  With the he, his record improves to 6-1.  Joey Stillwell and Walker Burgess each threw a scoreless inning of relief to secure the win.

Matt Allen finished the day 4-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI, and Cliff Bryant was 3-for-3 with a three run homerun, and a RBI single.  Chandler Rodriguez and Nick Horvath had two hits each.
