SF Model UN wins awards in North Carolina

Last weekend, 17 Santa Fe College students participated in the Southern Regional Model United Nations Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. They represented the countries of Russia, Pakistan and Canada while debating such topics as access to clean water, ebola containment and cybercrime.

The Russian delegation brought home five awards. Team President Brandon Gilliland and his partner Reeya Gupta won Outstanding Delegation in the General Assembly Plenary. Aaron Solley and Donald Blitch III won outstanding Delegation in the Human Rights Council. Myles McManus and Travis Escobar were recognized for their contribution to INTERPOL and Daniel Colmenares was recognized for his leadership role in the Security Council. Together, this delegation earned this conference’s highest honor: Overall Outstanding Delegation.

Our Santa Fe College Model United Nations team once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence and global leadership.
