SF FASTPITCH
The Santa Fe Saints went out on a high note Saturday, winning game two of a double header against Hillsborough 3-1. SF dropped the first half of the two game set 2-1.
Jessica Castiglione was strong in the circle in game one, but three SF errors cost the Saints two runs and the game. She scattered five hits and struck out four in seven innings of work.
Caroline Whittington knocked in the lone Santa Fe run.
Game two was another display of solid pitching by both teams in the early going before SF broke through for a run on a Sarah Ortiz sacrifice fly in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. Beri Scott padded the lead and gave Santa Fe some insurance runs in the fifth when she doubled home two runs.
Hillsborough put one run across in the seventh but that’s all SF starter Kayla Taylor would allow. Taylor tossed all seven innings and allow just one run on four hits with seven strikeouts.
Scott finished 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI, and Brashella Keys was 2-for-3.
The Saints conclude their season with a 22-27 record.
