Santa Fe College hosts Heart Walk Sept. 19

Santa Fe College will host the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk Saturday, Sept. 19. Festivities kick off at 7:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 8 a.m., rain or shine. This 5K walk is expected to bring together between 3,000 and 3,500 supporters with the purpose of encouraging people to take steps toward a heart-healthy lifestyle and to raise funds for the fight within our community. There will be a non-competitive 3-mile walk/run and a 1-mile “Miracle Mile” for survivors.

There are over 50 companies from the local community that have formed teams and made a fundraising commitment in an effort to engage their employees and promote health in the workplace.

These supporters do not include the many family members and friends that will be present to support those with whom they have a personal connection. Everyone has been impacted by cardiovascular disease and stroke in some way, and the Heart Walk is an opportunity to honor those loved ones who have been affected, and to raise money in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Please join 2015 Heart Walk Chairman, John Carlson, and many other supporters in the mission to inspire the community and build healthier lives! You can register at: alachuaheartwalk.org, call 800-257-6942 x 8024, or email Alachua@heart.org.
