Visiting Artist | Dr. Runa Peng—Impressions of Florida

The Santa Fe Gallery is proud to partner with the University of Florida in the School of Art and Art History to present visiting international research scholar and artist, Dr. Runa Peng. Dr. Peng is an Associate Professor of College of Art and Design at the Wuhan Textile University in China. She is also the director of the Arts and Crafts Board of Hubei literary and Arts Society in China. She was awarded a research abroad fellowship by the China Scholarship Council for a one-year research collaboration with University of Florida in the School of Art and Art History working with Professor Bob Mueller, who is the area head of printmaking.

This unique and exciting exhibition will be on display in the M-147 Art Gallery from Sept. 2 through Sept. 18. Please join us on Friday, Sept. 4, 7-9 p.m. for a reception to celebrate the work of Dr. Peng.

Dr. Runa Peng has visited Florida twice in 2013 and 2015, as a Visiting Artist at the University of Florida. Reflecting on her work, Dr. Peng states that these visits have allowed her to observe and appreciate a different cultural background and its influences on the natural landscape, as well as, the humane care from the perspective of a Chinese Woman. She strives to feel and understand the new people and things around her passionately and she describes her impressions of Florida through printmaking.
