SF Volleyball wins two matches on Saturday to move to 5-1

The FCSAA #7/NJCAA #17 Santa Fe Saints were on the road for the first time this season on Saturday, playing a pair of matches in Cocoa, FL against Eastern Florida State College and South Florida State College. The match-up with the Titans of EFSC was the second meeting between the two teams in the last week. SF (5-1) swept Eastern Florida last weekend in Gainesville, but this time the Titans took them to the limit in a five set nail-biter (25-18, 22-25, 25-21, 20-25, 16-14).

Nadine Williams continued her impressive freshman campaign, leading the Saints with 15 kills. Sheyanne Sullivan 11, and Kaylin Powell 10, also had double digit kills. Jane Early paced SF defensively with four blocks.

The second match of the day saw the Saints face South Florida State College. SF made quick work of the Panthers, taking all three sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-17). Williams was sharp offensively and defensively, tallying 11 kills and 14 digs. Powell controlled the middle with five blocks, while adding nine kills, and Julie Fuchs had six kills and three blocks.

The Saints will head out on the road again on Wednesday, September 9 for a match against Pasco-Hernando State College at 7 p.m. before they return home on Saturday, September 12 for a double header against FCSAA #3 Palm Beach State College and South Florida State College.
