Saints cruise past FSC-J in straight sets

The FCSAA #2/NJCAA #10 Santa Fe Saints (18-4, 6-1 MFC)made quick work of Florida State College-Jacksonville on the road Tuesday evening, sweeping the Blue Wave 25-18, 25-8, 25-8. After a competitive first set, the Saints pushed around FSC-J to the tune of back to back 25-8 wins. The victory guarantees the Saints a spot in the FCSAA State Tournament, taking place in Pensacola, FL on Nov. 5-7, should Daytona State beat St. John’s River tonight.

“This was a dominant performance by the entire team,” said SF Coach Nick Cheronis. “We played well in every phase of the game.”

Kaylin Powell was again dominant at the net, recording 10 kills and seven blocks. Nadine Williams finished with a team high 11 kills, and Julie Fuchs had nine kills and four blocks.

The Saints will continue on the road on Thursday when they travel to Daytona State for a 6 p.m. game against the Falcons. DSC beat SF in four sets in Gainesville earlier this season.
