Halloween is just around the corner and the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is gearing up for our 21st annual Boo at the Zoo. If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly venue to take your kids trick-or-treating, then this event is perfect for you and your little ones.
The zoo will be closed from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Oct. 31, while we transform the trails into 14 themed areas with candy stations. Student zookeepers play a crucial role in creating a Halloween wonderland where you can follow the yellow brick road, board a pirate ship, take a selfie with the Mad Hatter, and travel to a galaxy far, far away. The festivities continue outside of the zoo with performances of “Thriller” by Danscompany of Gainesville and food and refreshments provided for a small fee by Dominos Pizza.
Not only will your family have a blast meeting their favorite characters and collecting treats, but you will also be making a huge contribution to the community. Admission to the event is one canned good per person and cans collected are donated to Catholic Charities and Santa Fe Harvest (Santa Fe College’s campus food bank). We have donated over 5,000 canned goods each year from the event, feeding families in need in the community.
Bring the whole family down in costume with your canned food items to the Teaching Zoo on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3 p .m -7:30 p.m. Superheroes, princesses, and pirates welcome!
