Dallas Stubbs, Santa Fe College alumnus and former GHS star kicker, has earned a walk-on kicker spot with the Florida Gators. Stubbs previously played for Jacksonville and walked on for Florida in 2013 as a punter with a short-lived stay, being cut in 2014 to make way for Jorge Powell and Brooks Abbott.
Seventy-seven hopefuls were eligible for the indoor tryout that took place on Oct. 21, but it was Stubbs that UF awarded a roster spot after he, Abbot and one other student competed in The Swamp for the final cut.
“Thank you to everybody that has reached out to me. It’s been an incredible past few days and I hope to help the team out any way I can. I truly have the greatest friends and family anyone could ask for. Thank you again, everyone and Go Gators,” said Stubbs in a Facebook post on Saturday.
