Santa Fe Model UN Brings Home Five Awards

Last weekend, the Santa Fe College Model United Nations team attended the twenty-fifth annual Southern Regional Model United Nations conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Nineteen students participated. Three committee delegations received Outstanding Delegate Awards. Ryan Hamilton was recognized for his role as United Kingdom in the Security Council. Kayla Caniff, club president, and Reeya Gupta, club secretary, were recognized for their portrayal of the United Kingdom in the General Assembly. Emily Arnold and Katherine Malave were recognized for their representation of Indonesia on the Commission on the Status of Women. Both of the team’s countries, the United Kingdom and Indonesia, were awarded Honorable Distinctions. The following students participated: Carlos Alfonzo, Nina Alfonzo, Emily Arnold, Nick Bowman, Kayla Caniff, Mathew Coram, Nicole Edgar, Travis Escobar, Manuel Fuentes, Reeya Gupta, Ryan Hamilton, Judah Imlah-Savitt, Katherine Malave, Carl Morelli, Manuela Osorio, Dorian Price, Taylor Shrum, Aaron Solley, and Amha Tesfaye.

Additionally, the team’s adviser, Professor Jennifer Forshee, was elected to the Executive Board of the Southern Regional Model United Nations.
