SF Alumni Profile: Joshua Johnson

Entrepreneur Joshua Johnson is a 2005 Santa Fe College alumnus and former Student Government Leader who is now an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at University of Central Florida. Johnson earned a Master’s of Business Administration from UCF in 2010.

Johnson is the Lead Advocate for ReThink Homelessness, a part of the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness which raises awareness and increases advocacy for vulnerable Central Floridians.

Johnson co-founded Learn Everywhere, an organization that empowers schools and corporations to integrate mobile devices into their learning environments as a means of reinforcing learning activities with push technology that prompts the spacing effect on long-term retention.

Prior to Learn Everywhere, Johnson founded NextZen Media, a new media consulting practice that helped organizations such as University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program and the City of Orlando make their mark on the web through the use of social media.

Johnson was an invited speaker at the 66th Annual Meeting and Conference of the Association of Florida Colleges where he showed his video, Human, and made short remarks at the opening general session. The next day, he presented to a standing room crowd on Homelessness and the Florida College System: Part of the Solution. He earned the support of AFC for his service project, filling 250 backpacks with toiletries, socks, non-perishable food, and more, to be distributed to homeless persons by the Central Florida Regional Commission on Homelessness.

Johnson also continues to be “passionate about education technology and finding new ways to help virtually anyone learn anything, anywhere,” as he puts it.
