LaBrian Shiflet came through with his second straight 20 point game on Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, leading the Santa Fe Saints to a 74-70 win over the Blue Wave. Shiflet finished with 21 points five days after going for 25 against St. Petersburg College.
Santa Fe (8-10, 1-0 MFC) led 36-29 at the half, 12 of their points coming on three-pointers, with Shiflet scoring nine.
FSC-J picked up the pace in the second half, but the Saints proved to be too much down the stretch. Shiflet made four straight free throws down the stretch, and SF scored 18 total from the free throw line as part of their Mid-Florida Conference opening win.
Joshua Hawkins finished with 14 points for Santa Fe, Leo Edwards had 12, and Ty Birts nine.
The Saints will continue MFC play with a match-up against FCSAA #3 Daytona State College in Gainesville on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 8 p.m. Fans can watch live at www.santafesaints.com/saintssportsnetworkp.
