Johnson lights out in Saints 4-1 victory over ABAC

Santa Fe sophomore pitcher Trent Johnson (2-1) tossed seven shutout innings on Wednesday afternoon in Tifton, GA against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, striking out 11 to pick up his second win of the year in a 4-1 SF victory.

FCSAA #8 Santa Fe (10-3) jumped on the scoreboard first with a run in the first inning to spot Johnson an early lead, and added two more in the fourth on RBI by sophomores Hugo Valdes and Cole Parks.

ABAC plated their only run of the game in the eighth off reliever Call Graham who tossed the final two innings.

SF added an insurance run in the eighth on a RBI double by sophomore catcher Matt Allen, and Graham finished the game off on the mound in the bottom of the ninth.

Allen and freshman Stephen Smith had two hits apiece to lead the way offensively for Santa Fe.
The Saints return home on Friday to host Polk State College at 3 p.m. SF defeated the Eagles on Monday in Winter Haven 5-4.
