#1 CENTRAL FLORIDA TAKES TWO FROM Santa Fe College FASTPITCH

The Santa Fe Saints faced off with the top team in the country on Tuesday afternoon, and the Central Florida Patriots showed why they have that ranking. CF defeated SF 10-0 in the first half of a double header, and held on for a 7-3 win in game two, despite a late charge from the Saints. The losses drop Santa Fe to 18-22 overall and 5-9 in Mid-Florida Conference play. NJCAA #1 Central Florida improves to 47-1 and 14-0 MFC.
CF took control early in game one and scored in four out of five innings for the 1-0 victory.

In game two, the Saints fought back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score in the fourth thanks to RBI by Sarah Ortiz and Sydnee Smith.
The Patriots answered with five runs in the next two innings to grab a 7-2 lead. Chelsea Malcolm homered to cut the margin to 7-3 in the sixth, and in the seventh the Saints threatened by loading the bases, but didn’t come up with the big hit. Malcolm and Ki Vega each had two hits in game two.

The Saints will head out on the road Thursday to face off with Seminole State College in Sanford at 2:30 and 4:30 PM.
