Two Santa Fe men’s basketball players signed their NCAA letters of intent recently, signing with four year schools, Coach Chris Mowry announced. Kevin O’Brien, who sat out 2015-16 with a knee injury, inked with Lynn University and Leo Edwards, a sophomore transfer, signed with Kent State University.
O’Brien, a 6’9” wing saw his 2014-15 season cut short due to injury, and missed last season with another injury. As a freshman in 2014-15 he averaged 6.6 points per game, and scored 24 against Miami Dade College on December 13 before injuring his knee late in the game. Prior to the injury he was 6-for-6 from the three point line and 8-for-9 from the field.
At NCAA Division II Lynn he will be reunited with former teammate at SF, Allen Baez. Lynn finished last season 13-15 overall and 6-10 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Leo Edwards joins a Kent State team that was 19-13 overall and 10-8 in the Mid-American Conference.
Edwards averaged 12.2 points per game in 2015-16 and led the team in rebounding at 7.1 per contest.
