August 14, 1968 – According to the Tampa Tribune, SFCC returns more than $7 to Alachua and Bradford for every dollar of their tax contribution.

August 14, 1985 – Yvonne Sandra Long, 16, wins the Fordyce scholarship to attend SFCC.
