The Santa Fe Saints will open their third season of intercollegiate volleyball tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the SF Gym against Pasco-Hernando, looking to build on the success of their first two seasons.

Coach Nick Cheronis leads a relatively young squad into 2016, returning six players from last year’s team, combined with 11 newcomers. The Saints are 52-15 in their first two seasons, advancing to the FCSAA Tournament both years, and won the Mid-Florida Conference title in 2014.

Leading the way for SF in 2016 is All-FCSAA outside hitter Nadine Williams, and All Mid-Florida Conference outside hitter Sheyanne Sullivan.

Three local players join the fold in Meagan Irish, Kaylee Herring, and Ashton Marshall, all from Santa Fe High School in Alachua. The Saints will meet the Conquistadors of Pasco-Hernando for the third time on opening night.  SF has won the previous two season openers and are 4-1 overall against PHSC over the last two years.

On Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25, SF will host the Santa Fe Classic presented by Campus USA. The Saints will face some stiff competition in Pensacola State College, Palm Beach State College, and State College of Florida, all 2015 FCSAA Tournament teams.
