SAINTS RALLY TO DEFEAT PASCO-HERNANDO IN FIVE SETS

The Santa Fe Saints lost the first and third sets of their match against Pasco-Hernando State College on Wednesday night in New Port Richey, but rallied to take the final two for a 3-2 victory over the Conquistadors. Volleyball-161

The difference in the close match was the Saints play at the net.  Mariah Hill, the team leader in blocks coming in, finished with eight, Meagan Irish had seven, and Sterling Williamson five.

“Our blocking took a huge step forward tonight,” SF Coach Nick Cheronis commented.  “To win in the Mid-Florida Conference we will need that kind of effort every night.  Our team learned how to be consistently good with is something we have struggled with.”

Offensively, Nadine Williams was a force for SF, finishing with 14 kills, to go with 14 digs defensively.  Williamson also had double digit kills, tallying 12.

The victory moves the Saints to 5-4 on the season, with two matches coming up at home on Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM against Hillsborough CC and Eastern Florida State College.
