VOLLEYBALL TAKES TIME OFF AFTER BIG DAY FOR SAINTS YIELDS TWO SWEEPS

The FCSAA #6 Santa Fe Saints (9-5) were at the top of their game on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville, picking up back to back 3-0 wins over Broward College (25-18, 25-14, 25-15) and St. Petersburg College (25-19, 25-17, 25-22).

“We need three phases of the game to be working for us to be successful,” said SF Coach Nick Cheronis.  “Blocking, serving, and passing.  We did all of those at a high level today.”

Against Broward, Sterling Williamson let the charge, piling up 12 kills and five blocks.  Nadine Williams was solid offensively and defensively as well, accounting for seven kills and 13 digs.

In the second game of the afternoon for the Saints, SF stepped up their game at the net, setting the tone with their blocking.  Sterling Williamson and Meraiah Hill had five blocks each to lead the team.  Nadine Williams was a force offensively with 11 kills.

Santa Fe will now take a few days off before starting Mid-Florida Conference play on Tuesday, September 20 against rivals the College of Central Florida in Gainesville at 7:00 p.m.  The game will be broadcast live on the Saints Sports Network.
